As I mentioned, we offer a presentation on Chinese culture and history, and how the Shen Yun show brings the 5,000 –year civilization to life on stage. The presentation is free of charge, and can be customized to fit the interest and timeline of different clubs.

About the Shen Yun show (www.ShenYun.com ):
  • It’s one of the bestselling classical performance shows in the world. Each year it tours to over 100 cities around the world and perform at the top venues.
  • Shen Yun is a non-profit art group based in New York, formed by top-notch performing artists and musicians with a common mission to revive China’s ancient civilization on stage.
  • The show features classical Chinese dance (think dances performed thousands of years ago in royal courts), as well as ethnic dances(Mongolian, Tibetan, Hmong, etc).
  • The 2.5 hour show includes around 20 short pieces, most of which tell stories from legends, mythology and history. Each dance depicts a different dynasty, region or ethnic group. It’s a wonderful way to experience the rich diversity and long history of China.
  • All dances are accompanied by a live symphony orchestra with both Chinese and Western instruments. All music pieces are composed by Shen Yun artists.
  • Grand production with 100+ artists in each show, on stage and in the orchestra pit
  • An animated backdrop interacts with performers on stage to create a fanciful experience.
  • Hear what audience around the world were saying about the show.
  • As part of its 2018 global tour, Shen Yun will present four shows at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, St. Paul from February 16-18 (first 3 days of the Chinese New Year).

Our presentation includes:
  • A brief review of China’s 5000-year history
  • What makes Chinese culture unique
  • Challenges facing the Chinese traditional culture in the Communist era
  • Introduction of Shen Yun and what it is doing to help revive our traditional culture

I would LOVE to have a chance to share this with the District 5960 Rotarians. I hope our presentation and the Shen Yun show will bring more cultural understanding and appreciation to the community!

Please feel free to reach me via this email address, or my cell phone 517-505-1027. I look forward to hearing from you and other Rotary Clubs!

Thanks and have a wonderful weekend!
