Ariana Rodrigues is visiting Stillwater from Brazil and was gracious enough to be our speaker.  She gave us an update on what she has been doing since she left us a few years ago when she was an exchange student to our club from Brazil (2003-2004).
Ariana Rodrigues is visiting Stillwater from Brazil and was gracious enough to be our speaker.  She gave us an update on what she has been doing since she left us a few years ago when she was an exchange student to our club from Brazil (2003-2004).  She has not been standing still since then for sure. When she first returned she got a job selling insurance and earned her own money for the first time. She got her driver’s license after trying the tests twice but no car. She decided to go to school and moved to a nearby city where there was a good school. She got an apartment with friends and found out that having a good time is not part of the package and she flunked out the first year. Then she suddenly realized that she had to study, so after much effort the next year and the following year moving up to a school farther away from friends and choosing carefully a roommate she has done very well.  She is now working for the American Chamber of Commerce of Brazil which is a non-profit. She is in customer relations, helps small companies in working with each other and other jobs like getting visa’s to the U.S. The Chamber has been in business for 90 years. She is now a group leader with two people reporting to her. She has also found time to follow her passion, playing the Pirate in the Peter Pan Musical set to hip-hop.

She has worked with our club in providing help to a local charity with partnership with a local Rotary Club and us. Ariana presented our President, Mike Holsten with a very nice thank you silver memento from the Säo Gotardo Rotary Club.  It was a special day for Stillwater Sunrise Rotary.
