Brian Mueller, Police Chief - Guest of Nancy Lyner
Introduction to Stillwater's new Chief of Police

Chief Brian Mueller began his law enforcement career in 1998 with the White Bear Lake Police Department.  Shortly after he accepted a position with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.  Brian has spent the majority of his 23 year career working in narcotics, investigations and SWAT.  Brian has served as Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Commander, Commander of the Washington County Drug Task Force, Commander of the Washington County Investigative Unit and Overall Commander of the Washington County SWAT Team.  In 2017 Brian was appointed by Sheriff Dan Starry to be the Chief Deputy, overseeing all Sheriff’s Office Operations.

Chief Deputy Mueller graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in Criminal Justice, minor in Business Administration and an MA in Police Leadership and Education

Chief Deputy Mueller is current President of the Special Operations Training Association of Minnesota (SOTA), Treasurer for the Lakes Center for Youth and Family in Forest Lake and Past-Chair of the Minnesota Violent Crime Coordinating Council (VCCC).  He is a member of the National Sheriff’s Association, National Association of Chiefs of Police, Minnesota Sheriff’s Association and the Minnesota Chief’s of Police Association.  Brian lives in Lake Elmo with his wife Lori and 5 children.
