Hi Everyone... this  is what happened this  morning:

We did not have any visiting Rotarians this morning  nor did we have any guests.

Jason opened the meeting with a few announcements:

Don Schuld announced that he would  be willing to team up with other Rotarians to be part of the Rotary Climate Action Plan that is being championed by the Northfield Rotary Club.  If this cause is calling your name, please contact Don or Jason or Bob Gray.

Dave Waldschmidt gave us an update on the Media Center program.  Phase I is moving along with the 8 or so volunteers doing some book filings and thereby freeing up the librarians to do more productive work.  We are now moving on to Phase II to try to and expand the duties of the volunteers to work with students especially   those who are struggling with reading issues.  Also in the works is a plan that could have volunteers repairing books.  If you have an interest in becoming a volunteer, please give a shout out to Dave.

Steve Madson was happy to announce that Paula Williams has stepped up and will organize and plan our summer picnic.  Way to go Paula!

Andy Haak will be collecting donations in the next few weeks for  Fast For Hope.  Checks can be made out to Stillwater Sunrise Rotary or St. Croix Valley Community Foundation.

Rick Robbins is in the process of collecting money from those of us who want to join in on  March Madness  with the 10th annual Hoops for Hope.  It is only $20 to play, no knowledge of basketball necessary  and lots of fun with the proceeds all going to Fast For Hope.

During the Sergeant at Arms portion of the meeting we learned that Wendy Heck will be going to Panama for 2 weeks or so...one week to be a part of Floating Doctors, a group that gives medical aid to remote areas...and one week to have fun and  see the Panama Canal.  Nancy Lyner is off to her annual trip to New Zealand to reconnect with her in-laws.  Jack Gibbs is just back from enjoying the warmth of Tucson, Arizona.  And John Lennes shared that when Jason and Ken and Jeff took the Polar Plunge into Forest Lake in super duper cold water,  he was channeling them as he, too, took the plunge but it was into a 78 degree pool in Texas!  What a guy!

Our  speaker today was Ki McCue who is the sales manager for ZVAGO .  ZVAGO is a cooperative living  community for people 62 years old or older. They offer beautiful spaces and the benefits of ownership without the hassle of maintenance.  ZVAGO is an Italian word that means recreation, fun and leisure.  Theirs is a partnership between Ecumen and Life Style Communities. At present there are 4 established cooperative communities in Minnesota and the 5th one  is in the planning stages here in Stillwater on the land behind Our Saviours' Lutheran Church on the corner of Olive and Brick.  It will consist of a 3 story building with 60 units that will be secure, smoke free, pet friendly with heated underground parking.  The plan is to break ground with an anticipated opening in July of 2020.  The emphasis is on independent living for people who are still active and want to meet new friends and do activities with like-minded people.  There is lots of information on the website  www.zvagoliving.com  including floor plans and  answers to  any financial questions you might have and step by step directions on how to reserve  a cooperative residence.

Next time our speaker will be Frank Buras, an author and frequent contributor to the Rotarian magazine.   Jim Meier will be the host.

At the conclusion of today's meeting, Jason sent us out, as always ---to Be The Inspiration!
