Hi Everyone... this  is what happened this  morning:

We did not have any visiting Rotarians this morning  but we did have a few guests.  Bill Miller invited Sarah Stivland, a Stillwater School District Board member, and Bill Howell invited   Sara Latourneau as his guest.

Jason opened the meeting with the usual  announcements--check out the calendar portion of the newsletter.

Jason gave us an update on Jim Meier's situation. The good news is that Marilyn, Jim's wife, has been cleared to drive so they can get to their physical therapy appointments and don't have to rely on others for rides.  On a less happy note, Jason told us that Mary Parchetta's husband, Jack, has suffered a massive stroke. Please keep Mary and Jack in your thoughts at this difficult time in their lives.

Don Schuld reported that 5 people in the Club have expressed an interest in joining the Climate Action Plan Team.  If you are interested as well, please contact Don and let him know.  More details to follow...stay tuned.

Rotarian in the Spotlight:  This is the portion of the meeting where we find out something about a member we previously did not know.  Today the spotlight was on Eli Quiett. We learned that Eli made a hole in one when she was 17 and that this is the third year that she is collecting sap from her backyard and is making maple syrup.  We also learned that she has NOT won the March Madness bracket challenge ( via her husband's picks) at least 6 times.  She has only won 3 or 4 times!  Go Vince!!

Our  speakers today were Ann Marten, Roger Tomten and Sheila Maybanks and their topic was the Stillwater GreenStep Program. Minnesota GreenStep Cities is a voluntary challenge, assistance and recognition program to help cities achieve their sustainability and quality of life goals.  This free continuous improvement program is based upon 29 best practices.  At present there are 127 cities in Minnesota designated as GreenStep cities.  The group, Sustainable Stillwater,  pushed for Stillwater to join the program and so on July 31, 2018, a resolution from the City of Stillwater made it official.  Graham Tait from the City is the GreenStep coordinator.  You can Google "MN Greenstep Cities" to access their website and get more information regarding the 29 best practices as well as other interesting details relating to sustainability and our environment.

Next week  our program will be a Planning Meeting for the Brewer's Bazaar--only 53 days away!  Please plan to be present as we begin to finalize all the pesky details for this to be our best year ever.  Jason Hanlon will lead the meeting along with the other committee chairs.

At the conclusion of today's meeting, Jason sent us out, as always ---to Be The Inspiration!
