Happy New Year Everyone!!
Here is what happened this morning:

We had two visiting Rotarians, Lois Raboin and Kelly Stenerson from Noon Rotary and no guests.

Jason began the meeting announcing some dates to keep in mind ---see the calendar below.
Now for the details:
Lonny Stormo, our Foundation guy, presented a Paul Harris + 1 pin to Laurie Cherry.

Ed Boeve was unanimously elected the President Elect for 2020-2021--congrats Ed!

Jason spent a few minutes to re-iterate to us all how important the Brewers Bazaar Event is to the Club.  Money raised goes directly into our checking account and will be spent primarily in the next Rotary year.  So it is imperative that all of us do our part to ensure a successful event that will bring in the necessary funds  to support the good in the world that we as a club have done. What we can do is:
1. SPONSORSHIPS--Don Schuld and Rich Cummings are leading the Sponsorship Team
2. RAFFLE--Greg Otsuka and Troy Bernard will co-lead and organize the raffle event for this year
3. SELL EVENT TICKETS-- Ticket sales were down a bit last year so we have to revitalize  and sell to our network again.  Tickets will be available soon.
4. OTHER IDEAS-- If you have an idea of how to enhance or sell our event please speak up and then own that idea and carry it out.

Jason told us of another Fund Raising Opportunity that he has decided to participate in.  From the calendar you can see that there will be a Winter Plunge on Saturday February 16th sponsored by the Forest Lake Rotary Club. Participating Clubs would retain 70% of the pledges and 30% will go the Forest Lake Club.  So....the gauntlet has been thrown!! Jason will take the plunge and he is challenging others in the club to join him and raise some more money for our club. Should you decide to accept the challenge, let Jason know and he will create the team and all the necessary information so we can solicit pledges.

Rotarian in the Spotlight:  This is where we find out something about a club member we did not previously know.  Today we found out that Dave Langer worked everyday during the holidays on his real estate business, watched 12, count them, 12 sporting events at the Christmas/ New Years break, but alas could not spend New Years with his daughter Sarah in Madison, WI because she had to work all day...that was too bad.

Our speaker today was Kelly Stenerson who pinch hit for Jessica Ryan who had to stay home with her sick daughter.  Kelly represents The United Way of Washington County East.  She began by showing us a video that highlighted all the good things that the  United Way does for the community.  The United Way is a philanthropic organization that raises money for  agencies  in the County so that they can continue with their programs and meet the basic needs of the community.  Four major impact and funding focus areas are Youth, Basic Needs, Health and Self Sufficiency.  The United Way is celebrating its 70th birthday this year and continues to unite community and resources to let everyone live a better life.

Next week our speaker will be Michelle Margo who will tell us about the Outdoor Curling Tournament on Lily Lake on January 18,19 and 20.  Del Peterson will host.

At the conclusion of today's meeting, Jason sent us out, as always ---to Be The Inspiration!
